Here's some more info on Galerians: Ash. I altered the info somewhat, but it was originally taken from here . You might still wanna check out the site though, since it has a few cool pics ^_~

Galerians: Ash, scheduled to release in Japan on April 25, for 6800 yen. There are a total of 6 worlds in the game, in the game you play as Rion, who grew up in the boundary of the 6 worlds. The story begins with the destruction of the mother computer Dorothy, which controls the 6 world. During the quest you need to use your ESP (psychic power) to attack the enemies and defend yourself.

And here's more info from this site

In the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu, Enterbrain released the first details on Galerians: Ash for the PlayStation 2. Galerians: Ash is a prequel to the PSone's Galerians. Though story details are scarce, the brief synopsis implies that the game will be concerned with the creation of Dorothy, the Mother Computer. The main character is once again Rion, the first game's protagonist. Also returning is Lilia, who is the daughter of Dorothy's creator and extremely knowledgeable about the Galerians. It is currently unknown is Lilia is a playable character this time around. Cain, the "other Rion" from the first game, also looks to play some role in the the prequel. Other returning characters include the Birdman, Rainheart, and Dorothy herself. The three meters visible in screenshots are HP, AP, and drugs, implying a gameplay mechanic similar to the original. Hopefully, the drug gameplay mechanic will be rebalanced in order to be less frustrating to the player.

Very little is known gameplay changes in the prequel. Backgrounds are now generated in real-time, instead of prerendered. Players can now "lock on" to enemies in the standard third-party action style. A variety of new psychic attacks and abilities are at Rion's disposal. Galerians: Ash has a current Japanese release date of April 2002. No U.S. release has been announced at this time

Both the new Galerians game (Galerians: Ash, which is for PS2) and the Galerians OVA (now called Galerians: Rion) are out ^_^. You can order the OVA at places like CD Japan . I think you can also order the soundtrack to both at the same place. Just remember that the DVDs are REGION 2. The game and OVA I believe were released at the same time (2002/04/24). Both are also available in a sort of 'set' (AshxRion) where you can buy both the game and OVA.
For the OVA, there are 3 volumes.... Vol.1 Kakusei (Awakening), Vol.2 Kioku (Memory), and Vol.3 Hakai (Destroy).
Anyway, this is a good site to find info on both ^_^ It's all japanese >_< but there are lots of pretty pictures.
The official site on Galerians:Rion and Ash can be found here .

There's apperantly (if I can spell ^-^;;) going to be a 3D style ova for Galerians! Go Here for the site. It looks like it's done FMV style from the pics...(notice though, it's sometimes spelled Garelians, not Galerians...different...)
The site has lots of info and characters pics and movies, but I can't read japanese ^-^; (I haven't seen the movies yet either, since I'm using a cruddy laptop at this moment ~_~)But Rion and Birdman, from the pics so far, look damn cool ^__________^

Info came from this site and this site and this is the above link with all the pics and stuff Again
This site Arabesque also has a list of Galerians goods, the OVA among them.

More Galerians 2 info--

found on Neo Seeker . Galerians 2 will be released September 2001 (according to this, I'll assume that's the japanese date though). The game takes place 6 yrs after the first one and will be in third person, not first person ^_____^ (YEAH!). The game will be for PS2, yadda, yadda, yadda....

Published in an interview in the Official PlayStation Magazine (I think), info on a 2nd Galerians game was released. In the interview they said the 2nd game would be 1st person...NO, NO, BAD, BAD, WRONG! *ahem* Now, I know I'm not the ONLY one who doesn't like first person games...
Anyway, I'll have the interview posted up here once I borrow the mag from my friend who bought it ^-^;; but in the mean time, you can email me and let me know what you think about the fact that it might be 1st person.

YAH!! TekkenBall sent me the interview! Big thanx to her for getting it to me ^_~ So, here it is!

Psychic Horror on the PlayStation2

Ascii recently created a new spinoff development studio in Japan called EnterBrain, which will focus on developing many of the company's high-profile games for the next-generation platforms. EnterBrain is hard at work on a few PS2 games, one being the sequel to the psychic horror title Galerians. OPM chatted with EnterBrain's Ichiro Sugiyama, producer of Galerians 2, to get the scoop on the sequel.

OPM: A lot of our readers are big fans of the original Galerians and are curious to hear how the sequel is coming along.

Ichiro Sugiyama: The sequel to Galerians will be generated with polygons all in real-time [meaning the prerendered CG background are gone]. So people should expect a more intense, action-packed psychic battle game. It will still feature the main characters from the original game, but it's a secret as to what happened to Leon (Rion).

OPM: What are your thoughts on the PS2? What is the system allowing you to do that you hadn't been able to do before?

IS: The PS2 can generate multiple light sources, which at this point is something that only the Sony console can do. This enables developers to create realistic backgrounds with real-time rendered polygons. You can also create effects like smoke or dripping water moving in the backgrounds. And, of course, the PS2 can display more detailed character, too. In the Galerians sequel, what you're basically doing is controlling a much more detailed version of Leon than the one in the CG movies of the original game. Once you put all these graphical elements together, you can control a character in a movie-like 3D environment in real-time. We're also going to be doing things with the Dolby Surround sound functions; if you plug the game into a fully stacked amplifier, you're going to get a very realistic experience.

OPM: Will there be any new gameplay changes or enhancements for the sequel that you're making based on feedback from the game players:

IS: The control will be direct [first person] rather than how it was in the original Galerians [third person]. And the game overall will be much longer than first one. Some gamers were unhappy about those areas in the original title.

OPM: Is Shou Tajima, the artist from the original Galerians, involved with the sequel?

IS: Yes. He has already finished several cool character designs.

OPM: Is there anything that you'd like to say to your fans in the U.S.?

IS: Thank you for enjoying Galerians. Right now, we've finished a rough copy of the scenario for Galerians 2, but the game is still more than a year away. You'll just have to wait for more updates in the future.

~End of interview

I still say it shouldn't be in first person ~_~ I liked third person...
